I thought dress rentals was maybe renting a wedding dress or maybe a formal or bridesmaid dress.

And even more importantly, I had no idea that the people renting them…

And so I went on a massive deep dive.

I scoured press releases for tidbits of quotes that may give me an inkling into how I could get my foot in the door.

I couldn’t believe what I found! Women who had used dress rentals to:

I kept following the trail....

I religiously followed instagram accounts, studied the platforms and spent hours keeping lists and spreadsheet of items that were and weren’t renting. 

Sorting them by brands, sizes and styles and seeing if I could see a pattern in what the most popular items were.

I studied the photos that were associated with the most successful rentals and the price points.

And then….I rented over 300 dresses in my first year 😳

I listed my first dress in October 2022

A mini dress I already had for sale on Ebay. And while I was in the carpark waiting for my daughter to finish cheer practise…I had my first rental booked 🎉

But, I made still made ALOT of mistakes. Because there was nobody to telling me what to do or how to do it.

I was doing the research, but I was still just guessing. 

And I had to learn my lessons the hard way. 

In that first year I learnt everything I needed to know about dress rentals. 

Not because I had 5 dresses, but because I was renting 300! 

I had to learn fast.
